Smartsheet MCP integration: connecting Amazon Quick and Kiro on AWS

AI SummaryPowered by AI

Smartsheet has released a generally available Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server that exposes a standardized API for AI agents to read and write Smartsheet data. The change lets engineers attach Amazon Quick and Kiro directly to Smartsheet, reducing payload size, latency, and operational overhead for AI‑driven work‑management use cases.

Smartsheet’s new Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server is now generally available, offering a uniform interface for AI agents to interact with Smartsheet sheets, rows, columns, and automations. For engineers building AI‑enabled workflows, the server provides a token‑efficient payload format and a set of regional endpoints that can be called from Amazon Quick or the Kiro IDE without custom code.

What the MCP Server Provides

The MCP Server abstracts more than forty Smartsheet operations behind a single protocol. It returns structured context such as row relationships, column types, cell history, and comments, which keeps request and response sizes small. The server uses Streamable HTTP transport and supports two specification versions (2025-06-18 and 2025-03-26). Authentication is handled via OAuth 2.0 or a Smartsheet Personal Access Token, and the service is reachable at three regional URLs: https://mcp.smartsheet.com (US commercial), https://mcp.smartsheet.eu, and https://mcp.smartsheet.au.
